STEP 1: CUT FELT FOR THE BANNER
You can cut the felt banner on the Cricut if desired, but I chose to cut my banner by hand since it's pretty simple to do. Cut a rectangle that is 11" wide by 13" long. Measure 2.5" from the bottom on each side of the banner and make a mark. Fold the banner in half and make a mark at the bottom center of the banner. Then cut from the center of the banner to one side. Do the same thing on the other side.
STEP 2: DOWNLOAD MY FREE HELLO LOVE DESIGN AND UPLOAD TO CRICUT DESIGN SPACE.
Download the free Hello Love design (located at the bottom of the post) and upload it to Cricut Design Space. Check out my video here if you need help with this step. Double check that the design is 8.5" wide for this project before cutting it.
STEP 3: CUT HEAT TRANSFER VINYL
Place the black HTV on a standard grip mat with the shiny side down. Make sure the design is mirrored before you cut it. Set the material type to iron on, and cut.
Next, place the red glitter HTV on the standard grip mat shiny side down. Again, make sure the design is mirrored. Set your material type to glitter iron on, and cut.
STEP 4: REMOVE EXCESS VINYL AND WEED THE DESIGN
Use your weeding tool to remove all of the excess vinyl. Then weed the design to remove any vinyl that we don't want to show up on the banner.
STEP 5: PLACE THE HEART IN THE CENTER OF THE DESIGN
Stick the heart in the center of the Hello Love design with the shiny side on the sticky vinyl backing. You want to make sure the dull side will be touching the felt when ironed on since that is the adhesive side.
STEP 6: SET THE EASY PRESS TEMPERATURE AND TIME
Set your heat press temperature to 270°F and set the time to 30 seconds.
STEP 7: PREHEAT THE FELT
Use the Easy Press to preheat your felt for 5 seconds.
STEP 8: PLACE DESIGN ON FELT AND HEAT
Place the design in the center of the felt banner. Place the Easy Press over the design being sure to cover the entire design. Click the "C" Cricut button to start the Easy Press timer. Apply firm pressure while heating.
STEP 9: TURN OVER FELT AND HEAT THE BACK
Turn over the felt banner and apply the Easy Press to the back of the banner for 15 seconds.
STEP 10: REMOVE VINYL BACKING
If using Cricut iron on, wait until the vinyl backing is cool to the touch before peeling. Some HTV is warm peel, please refer to the peel instructions for the brand you are using
STEP 11: GLUE ON POM POM TRIM
Use hot glue to attach the pom pom trim to the bottom of the banner. The trim can be glued to the front
or the back of the banner, but I preferred seeing the extra red trim.
STEP 12: REMOVE EXCESS TRIM
Carefully cut off the excess trim from the banner.
STEP 13: GLUE THE DOWEL ROD TO THE BANNER
Flip over the banner, fold the top over the dowel rod to see where you want to place the glue. Use hot glue to adhere the felt over the dowel rod.
Make sure your dowel rod is centered before you glue down the felt...OOPS!
STEP 14: TIE STRING OR RIBBON AROUND THE DOWEL ROD
Tie ribbon or string around each end of the dowel so you can hang your banner.
